Sikh Wedding (Anand Karaj)?
The Sikh marriage ceremony is known as Anand Karaj meaning “blissful union”. Anand Karaj consists of the couple revolving around Guru Granth Sahib Ji four times.Generally, Sikh marriages take place in the morning and are completed by afternoon.

The Sikh marriage ceremony is known as ‘Anand Karaj’. Our photography involves both candid photography and portrait photography. What is a Sikh Wedding (Anand Karaj)?
Wedding Rituals
Sehra Bandi – On the day of the sikh wedding, before the wedding party departs from the groom’s home, the turban is tied around the groom’s head. Groom have sword that he has to carry during all the wedding ceremonies.Soorma and Kalgi – The groom’s sister-in-law applies a black dot of kohl or surma on the side of his forehead to ward off any negative energy from the groom.
Sikh Wedding Anand Karaj – Anand Karaj literally means ‘Blissful Union’. The ceremony takes place at the Gurudwara prayer hall during the daytime or during afternoons.
The bride and the groom sit side-by-side – bride on the left side of the groom, The ceremony starts with the couple and their parents standing up to offer Ardaas to ‘Waheguru’
The father of the bride places a saffron colored scarf on the groom’s shoulder and the other end of the same on his daughter’s hand. The bhaiji of the Gurudwara recites the hymns from the Guru Granth Sahib, which are then sung and the bride and groom circle the Guru Granth Sahib. The bridegroom walks ahead of the bride with a sword in his hand.
Wedding Lunch – At the end of the wedding sikh ceremony, the guests and the attendees are served delicious vegetarian lunch at the Gurudwara’s
Doli ceremony marks the end of the wedding celebration. It is a very emotional affair for the bride’s family as she departs from her parent’s house she throws back handful of rice over her shoulder, thereby wishing prosperity for her parents and family she leaves behind to start a new life with new dreams and aspirations.
