Some weddings feel like a celebration. Others feel like a three-day festival of colour, music, and sea breeze — and Ishani & Karan’s Indian destination wedding in Khao Lak, Thailand was firmly the second kind. Set at the beachfront Khao Lak Marriott Beach Resort & Spa in Phang Nga, their celebrations moved from a marigold-yellow haldi morning to a fire-lit sangeet on the sand, and finally to pheras under a blush-pink floral mandap. As their wedding photography and film team, KORO FILMS was there for every second of it.
Why Khao Lak for an Indian Destination Wedding?
Just over an hour north of Phuket airport, Khao Lak gives couples the best of both worlds: the convenience of an international wedding destination and the calm of a quiet, palm-lined coastline. The Khao Lak Marriott Beach Resort & Spa is built for multi-day Indian weddings — expansive lawns for haldi and pithi ceremonies, a long private beachfront for sangeet nights, and a grand ballroom that comfortably holds a full wedding ceremony with mandap, aisle, and stage. For guests flying in from around the world, everything happens in one resort, a few steps apart.
Haldi & Pithi: A Morning of Marigold and Laughter
Day one began in yellow. Turmeric, marigold petals, and a lot of mischief — the haldi and pithi ceremonies filled the resort’s garden courtyards with colour and laughter as both families took turns blessing the couple.
Ishani was radiant in a red silk saree, Karan in a marigold-yellow kurta — and the resort’s tropical banana leaves made the perfect backdrop for their couple portraits between ceremonies.
A Beachfront Sangeet at Sunset
As the sun dropped over the Andaman Sea, the celebration moved to the sand. The sangeet night opened with golden-hour portraits on the beach, followed by dance performances, a fire show that lit up the shoreline, and a dance floor under string lights that didn’t slow down until late.
The Wedding Ceremony: Pheras Under a Blush-Pink Mandap
On the final day, the resort’s ballroom was transformed. A blush-pink floral mandap stood at the end of a petal-lined aisle, and every ritual — the baraat, the varmala, the pheras around the sacred fire — unfolded surrounded by family flown in from across the globe.
